2007 OIAL Ride Poem

Is your throttle finger twitchin and your busted butt tinglin?

If so, you may be cravin some brotherhood minglin.

It ain’t for the amateur, frickin faint-hearted.

You’ve got to be strong and not ask, “Who farted?!”

Do we have a “Yeah Brother!” or at least an “Amen!”?

“Bout this time last year, the big plan did begin!

So polish your helmet and all of that chrome!

Who knows where the “Over-the-Hill Gang” will next roam.

Our fearless leader is searchin the net!

He’ll plan a great ride.  He’s a “Renegade” vet!

Just tell the ol’ lady it’s cheaper than therapy;

And if she complains, say, “Then why did ya marry me?!”

Time is a-wastin!  Here’s your big invitation!

Get your “crotch-rocket” ready for the trail to liberation!

The Duke

2002 OIAL Ride Poem

Ren’s doing “The Ride”, again next week;

Even though his rain-riding gear might leak!

Last year it was called, quite appropriately;

“The Over-the-Hill-and-through-the-Woods” spree!

Ren says that his “butt is tingling” again!

Like a motorcycle grip, he holds his pen!

Michelle has come to know what that means;

So she just sighs, as he “flees the scene”.

His enthusiasm is very contagious.

About twenty guys, with him, have gone crazy.

They’re “middle-aged and over-the-hill”!

For this type of sickness, there is no “pill”.

It’s “therapeutic” for the “middle-aged psyche”;

To “hit the road” on your hot “motorbikie”!

That is the argument presented to wives.

The way these guys ride, they’ll all need “nine lives”!

The smile on their faces will remain for nine months;

Three months shy of the next ride for this bunch!

Those of us who have ridden in previous years;

Can’t think of those times without “shedding some tears”.

Someday, we’ll return, “hanging on for dear life”;

As we round those tight curves, feeling “cool” on our bikes!
